1. A system for performing motion correction of image data, the system comprising:

  • a processor; and

    a computer-readable medium operably coupled to the processor, the computer-readable medium comprising instructions that, when executed by the processor, perform operations comprisingreceiving a first set of data that is a first subset of k-space data of an object to be imaged, the first set of data including a first plurality of phase encoded lines that encompass the object to be imaged;

    receiving a second set of data that is a second subset of the k-space data of the object to be imaged, the second set of data including a second plurality of phase encoded lines that encompass the object to be imaged, wherein the first set of data correlates with the second set of data and the second set of data is shifted in a phase-encode direction relative to the first set of data;

    calculating a cross-correlation by multiplying the received first set of data and the received second set of data in k-space;

    calculating a value of the motion of the object to be imaged that occurred between acquisition of the first set of data and acquisition of the second set of data using the calculated cross-correlation; and

    correcting the second set of data to remove the motion using the calculated value.
