1. A surgical instrument comprising:

  • at least one grasping jaw, including a shape memory alloy and configured for grasping a body tissue;

    at least one delivery mechanism adapted to deliver one or more surgical staples and operably coupled to control circuitry, the delivery mechanism contained within the at least one grasping jaw;

    at least one chemical tissue sealant reservoir contained within or located in proximity to the at least one grasping jaw, and operably coupled to the control circuitry;

    a trigger operably coupled to the control circuitry, wherein said at least one chemical tissue sealant reservoir and said at least one delivery mechanism are responsive to a signal generated by said trigger; and

    a flexually deformable and steerable shaft connected to the at least one grasping jaw, and containing at least one shape memory alloy.
