Abstract

An implant for marking an area within a living body includes a matrix material and a marking material. The implant is formable to fit the shape and size of a cavity in the human body. The implant is configured to support tissue surrounding the cavity and to allow in-growth of fibrous tissue into and replace at least a portion of the matrix material.

Claims

1. An implant for marking an area within a living body comprising a matrix material and a marking material, the implant being formable to fit the shape and size of a cavity in the human body, the implant being configured to support tissue surrounding the cavity and to allow in-growth of fibrous tissue into and replace at least a portion of the matrix material, wherein the marking material is a dye and the dye is one of indigo carmine and methylene blue.

An implant for marking an area within a living body comprising a matrix material and a marking material, the implant being formable to fit the shape and size of a cavity in the human body, the implant being configured to support tissue surrounding the cavity and to allow in-growth of fibrous tissue into and replace at least a portion of the matrix material, wherein the matrix material comprises one of a self-expanding foam, a compressible foam or sponge, and a non-compressible foam or sponge.

An implant for marking an area within a living body comprising a matrix material and a marking material, the implant being formable to fit the shape and size of a cavity in the human body, the implant being configured to support tissue surrounding the cavity and to allow in-growth of fibrous tissue into and replace at least a portion of the matrix material, wherein the matrix material comprises a foamed bioabsorbable protein.

An implant for marking an area within a living body comprising a matrix material and a marking material, the implant being formable to fit the shape and size of a cavity in the human body, the implant being configured to support tissue surrounding the cavity and to allow in-growth of fibrous tissue into and replace at least a portion of the matrix material, wherein the matrix material comprises of a foamed collagen.

An implant for marking an area within a living body comprising a matrix material and a marking material, the implant being formable to fit the shape and size of a cavity in the human body, the implant being configured to support tissue surrounding the cavity and to allow in-growth of fibrous tissue into and replace at least a portion of the matrix material, and a shell containing the matrix material.

6. The implant of claim 5, wherein the shell comprises compressed matrix material.

7. The implant of claim 5, wherein the shell completely surrounds the matrix material.
