1. A method of modulating neural activity comprising the steps of:
- producing a reversible conduction block in a peripheral neural structure of a subject with a thermal stimulus while the subject is in a low activity state;
reversing the reversible conduction block in the peripheral neural structure of the subject to permit conduction in the peripheral neural structure when the subject is in a higher activity state; and
repeating the steps of producing a reversible conduction block in a peripheral neural structure of a subject with a thermal stimulus while the subject is in a low activity state and reversing the reversible conduction block in the peripheral neural structure of the subject to permit conduction in the peripheral neural structure when the subject is in a higher activity state.

Abstract
Methods and related systems for modulating neural activity by blocking conduction in peripheral neural structures with thermal stimuli are disclosed. Methods and systems for reversing effects of thermal blocking stimuli and/or for producing substantially permanent conduction block are also disclosed.
