1. A retinal prosthesis comprising:
- an electronics package adapted to be implanted external to an eye having a sclera and a retina and distant from the sclera, further adapted to process electrical signals before being sent to an electrode array body, while at the distant location;
said electrode array body comprised of a plurality of electrodes adapted to intimately contact the retina to provide vision-inducing stimulation to the retina; and
a feeder cable, comprised of sections, including a plurality of conductors configured to couple said electronics package to said electrode array body when said electrode array body is in contact with the retina and the electronics package is distant from the sclera, said feeder cable configured to pass through the sclera and not through the retina.
