    selecting, by the AP, a second wireless channel for secondary networking functions within the infrastructure based wireless network;

    transmitting, in accordance with the second wireless communication protocol, by the AP to a wireless device of the first plurality of wireless devices, a first information element to communicate an allocation of the first wireless channel to the first plurality of wireless devices; and

    transmitting, in accordance with the second wireless communication protocol, by the AP to the wireless device of the first plurality of wireless devices, a second information element to communicate an allocation of the second wireless channel to the first plurality of wireless devices for one or more secondary networking functions within the infrastructure based wireless network, wherein the one or more secondary networking functions include a paging function, a parking function, or a roaming function.
