1. An intelligent electronic device (IED) for determining parameters of an electrical distribution system, the IED comprising:

  • at least one sensor for sensing the at least one input voltage and current channels of the electrical distribution system,at least one input channel for receiving AC voltages and currents from the at least one sensor including at least one analog to digital converter for outputting digitized signals, the at least one input channel including a first input channel for transient detection sampling, a second input channel for waveform capture sampling and a third input channel for revenue measurement sampling, the at least one analog to digital converter for each of the at least one input channels having a different sampling rate,a field programmable gate array (FPGA) coupled to each of the at least one input channels for routing the digitized signals to a processing system,the processing system including a first digital signal processor for processing the digitized signals from the transient detection sampling input channel and waveform capture sampling input channel, a second digital signal processor for processing the digitized signals from the revenue measurement sampling input channel and a central processing unit for processing data from the first and second digital signal processors,the field programmable gate array (FPGA) configured to incorporate a first dual port memory for transferring data between the first digital signal processor and the central processing unit and a second dual port memory for transferring data between the second digital signal processor and the central processing unit.
