1. A method comprising:
- receiving, by a communication service dashboard module operable within a web server of a communication service provider, information defining a caregroup, including a target of a care group, members of the caregroup that are permitted to send digital gifts to the target of the caregroup and one or more administrating caregivers of the caregroup;
limiting, by a digital gift editor module operable within a web server of the communication service provider, potential recipients of digital gifts from the members of the caregroup to the target of the caregroup and targets of any other caregroups of which the members are a part;
receiving, by the digital gift editor module from a member of the caregroup, an indication of a digital gift desired to be generated and caused to be delivered in hardcopy form to a hardcopy-based email appliance of the target of the caregroup, the hardcopy-based email appliance operable to receive digital gifts from the members of the caregroup and produce hardcopy output of the digital gifts for the target of the caregroup;
for each content-containing component of the digital gift, selecting, by the digital gift editor module, default content items based upon one or more of biographical information previously supplied by one or more members of the caregroup, information regarding communications history from the member of the caregroup to the target of the caregroup, ascertained preferences of the target of the caregroup, and a type of the digital gift;
allowing, by the digital gift editor module, the member of the caregroup to initiate delivery of the digital gift with the selected default content items or personalize the digital gift prior to delivery by presenting the digital gift within a corresponding digital gift editor; and
wherein the communication service dashboard module and the digital gift editor module are implemented in one or more computer processors and one or more computer-readable storage media of the web server, the one or more computer-readable storage media having instructions tangibly embodied therein representing the communication service dashboard module and the digital gift editor module that are executable by the one or more computer processors.

Abstract
Methods and systems are provided for promoting and managing communications among members of a caregroup. Potential recipients of digital gifts are limited to targets of caregroups in which the members participate. An indication of a digital gift to be delivered in hardcopy form to a hardcopy-based email appliance of the target is received. The email appliance is operable to receive digital gifts and produce hardcopy output of the digital gifts. For each content-containing component of the digital gift, default content items are selected based upon one or more of biographical information previously supplied information regarding communications history with the target, ascertained preferences of the target, and the digital gift type. The member of the caregroup is allowed to initiate delivery of the digital gift with the selected default content items or is allowed to personalize the digital gift prior to delivery within a digital gift editor.

14. A method of facilitating caregroup coaching, the method comprising:

providing a communication service configured to facilitate, by acting as a communications transformer, and encourage communications from a plurality of members of a caregroup to a target of the caregroup, the target of the caregroup using a hardcopy-based communication appliance associated with the caregroup to receive hardcopy output corresponding to electronic communications from one or more of the plurality of the members of the caregroup that are received by the hardcopy-based communication appliance via the communication service, wherein the electronic communications from the one or more of the plurality of members are originated from a plurality of types of devices including one or more of a desktop or laptop computer, a portable email appliance, a mobile phone with an integrated camera and a personal digital assistant; receiving, by a communication service dashboard module operable within one or more computer systems of the communication service, information defining the caregroup, including the plurality of members of the caregroup, the target of the caregroup and one or more administrating caregivers of the caregroup; capturing, by a monitoring module operable within the one or more computer systems, information regarding digital gifts sent by the plurality of members of the caregroup to the target of the caregroup via the communication service; calculating, by the monitoring module, one or more metrics based on the captured information; based on the one or more metrics, a coaching module operable within the one or more computer systems of the communication service automatically generating and delivering a coaching message to one or more members of the plurality of members of the caregroup, the coaching message including a suggestion regarding an appropriate digital gift to be sent to the hardcopy-based communication appliance of the target of the caregroup via the communication service; and wherein the communication service dashboard module, the monitoring module and the coaching module are implemented in one or more computer processors and one or more computer-readable storage media of the one or more computer systems, the one or more computer-readable storage media having instructions tangibly embodied therein representing the communication service dashboard module, the monitoring module and the coaching module that are executable by the one or more computer processors. - View Dependent Claims (15, 16, 17, 18, 19)
