1. A current measuring device for measuring magnetic fields in a conductor, the measuring device comprising:

  • a base made from a nonconductive plastic material;

    a cover removably coupled to said base, said cover made from a nonconductive plastic material;

    a magnetic shield member coupled to said base, said magnetic shield member having a substantially uniform thickness, wherein said magnetic shield member has a semi-circular surface;

    a compliant member coupled to said magnetic shield member;

    a Hall effect device coupled to said cover opposite said magnetic shield member wherein said magnetic shield member and said Hall effect device are arranged with a gap sized to receive said conductor between said semi-circular surface and said Hall effect device; and

    ,a current sensing circuit position on a surface of the magnetic shield member opposite to the Hall effect device.
