Abstract

A digital broadcasting system and a data processing method are disclosed. A receiving system of the digital broadcasting system comprises a baseband processor, a management processor and a presentation processor. The baseband processor receives a broadcast signal including mobile service data and main service data, wherein the mobile service data configure a Reed-Solomon (RS) frame. The RS frame includes at least one of the mobile service data and notification messages. The notification messages are packetized in accordance with any one of a first transport protocol and a second transport protocol. The management processor decodes the notification messages from the RS frame in accordance with any one of the first transport protocol and the second transport protocol. The presentation processor directly outputs the decoded notification messages to an output unit in accordance with a channel which transmits the decoded notification messages, or outputs the decoded notification messages to the output unit only if a user selects the notification messages.

Claims

1. A method for transmitting a broadcast signal, the method comprising:

performing Reed Solomon (RS) encoding and Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) encoding on mobile service data and a signaling information table comprising access information of the mobile service data to build a plurality of RS frames, wherein the plurality of RS frames includes the mobile service data and the signaling information table;

encoding signaling information that includes fast information channel (FIC) data and transmission parameter channel (TPC) data, wherein the FIC data includes information for rapid mobile service acquisition, and wherein the TPC data includes FIC version information for indicating an update of the FIC data;

mapping at least one of the plurality of RS frames into a plurality of data groups, wherein each of the plurality of data groups comprises a portion of the at least one of the plurality of RS frames and the encoded signaling information; and

transmitting multiple parades of the plurality of data groups within a transmission frame,

wherein each of the parades includes a collection of consecutively numbered data groups having same forward error correction (FEC) parameters,

wherein the TPC data includes a parade identifier to identify each of the parades,

wherein the FIC data is divided into a plurality of FIC segments, each of the plurality of FIC segments including an FIC segment header and an FIC payload, and each of the plurality of FIC segments is transmitted in each of the plurality of data groups,

wherein the signaling information table is carried according to at least one section, each of the at least one section comprising a section header and a section body,

wherein the section header comprises an ensemble identifier to identify an ensemble, and the section body comprises access information of the mobile service data,

wherein the ensemble identifier comprises the parade identifier,

wherein at least one of the plurality of RS frames belongs to a primary ensemble or a secondary ensemble, and

wherein the primary ensemble is carried over primary RS frames and the secondary ensemble is carried over secondary RS frames.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the TPC data further includes information indicating a sum of a number of data groups in the parades during one sub-frame.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the FIC segment header includes information indicating a number of a corresponding FIC segment of the plurality of FIC segments and information indicating a number of a last FIC segment of the FIC data.

4. An apparatus for transmitting a broadcast signal, the apparatus comprising:

a first encoder configured to perform Reed Solomon (RS) encoding and Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) encoding on mobile service data and a signaling information table comprising access information of the mobile service data to build a plurality of RS frames, wherein the plurality of RS frames includes the mobile service data and the signaling information table;

a second encoder configured to encode signaling information that includes fast information channel (FIC) data and transmission parameter channel (TPC) data, wherein the FIC data includes information for rapid mobile service acquisition, and wherein the TPC data includes FIC version information for indicating an update of the FIC data;

a group formatter configured to map at least one of the plurality of RS frames into a plurality of data groups, wherein each of the plurality of data groups comprises a portion of the at least one of the plurality of RS frames and the encoded signaling information; and

a transmission unit configured to transmit multiple parades of the plurality of data groups within a transmission frame, wherein each of the parades includes a collection of consecutively numbered data groups having same forward error correction (FEC) parameters,

wherein the TPC data includes a parade identifier to identify each of the parades,

wherein the FIC data is divided into a plurality of FIC segments, each of the plurality of FIC segments including an FIC segment header and an FIC payload, and each of the plurality of FIC segments is transmitted in each of the plurality of data groups,

wherein the signaling information table is carried according to at least one section, each of the at least one section comprising a section header and a section body,

wherein the section header comprises an ensemble identifier to identify an ensemble, and the section body comprises access information of the mobile service data,

wherein the ensemble identifier comprises the parade identifier,

wherein at least one of the plurality of RS frames belongs to a primary ensemble or a secondary ensemble, and

wherein the primary ensemble is carried over primary RS frames and the secondary ensemble is carried over secondary RS frames.

5. The apparatus of claim 4, wherein the TPC data further includes information indicating a sum of a number of data groups in the parades during one sub-frame.

6. The apparatus of claim 4, wherein the FIC segment header includes information indicating a number of a corresponding FIC segment of the plurality of FIC segments and information indicating a number of a last FIC segment of the FIC data.
