A quality assured network service provision system compatible with a multi-domain network, wherein a communication network comprising a plurality of operations management networks (domains) which are connected to a plurality of customer networks with user terminals and which are respectively managed by different providers, the system comprising:
- a plurality of network service management devices, at least one of the plurality of network service management devices being incorporated within a respective operations management network of each of said providers, and negotiating with another operations management network which is managed by another provider and with which interconnection is to be established based on a required quality level from a customer so as to ensure an end-to-end quality level; and
a multi-domain service broker device at a functional upper layer managing and brokering the plurality of network service management devices, the multi-domain service broker device managing bandwidth brokers in the respective domains, receiving service information on services which can be provided by the respective domains and domain information which includes configuration information relating to the operations management networks which are output from the network service management device which belongs to each of the providers, storing information on the operations management networks managed by the respective providers, and brokering a service level agreement between the operations management networks of said plurality of providers by selecting route information and a network service management device for ensuring an end-to-end quality level required by the customer based on the received service information and domain information,wherein the multi-domain service broker device interworks with the bandwidth brokers to assure service level agreements so as to provide a communication service over the domains, andto secure network resources over the domains, the multi-domain service broker device provides information identifying, a bandwidth broker of an adjacent domain that satisfies the required quality level among bandwidth brokers of a plurality of adjacent domains to a bandwidth broker that has initiated a request.

Abstract
The invention provides quality assured network services in a multi-domain network and comprises a network service management device for managing device clusters incorporated within the operations management network of each provider network and receiving service orders, and a multi-domain service broker for providing a broker function for achieving agreement between a plurality of providers, and the multi-domain service broker further comprises a device for collecting domain information and information relating to the services each provider is able to provide from the network service management devices, and a device which on receipt of a network service request from a customer, extracts the network service management device of the domain which is able to satisfy the required quality level, and then issues instructions for the setting of the required information within the extracted network service management device.

4. A method of providing a quality assured network service compatible with a multi-domain network having:
- a plurality of operations management networks (domains) which are connected to a plurality of customer networks with user terminals and which are respectively managed by different providers;
a plurality of network service management devices, at least one of the plurality of network service management devices collectively controlling device clusters incorporated within a respective operations management network of each of said providers, and negotiating with another operations management network which is managed by another provider and with which interconnection is to be established based on a required quality level from a customer, the required quality level including a communication bandwidth and a transfer priority, so as to ensure an end-to-end quality level; and
a multi-domain service broker device at a functional upper layer managing and brokering the plurality of network service management devices, managing network resources of the respective domains, and providing a broker function for interconnecting the operations management networks of said plurality of providers, said method comprising;a service registration step in which said multi-domain service broker device receives registration information, from a network service management device of each provider that provides a network resource, said registration information including domain information comprising configuration information relating to the operations management networks and service information on network services which can be provided by the respective domains which are output from the network service management device which belongs to each of the providers, the service information including bandwidth information, the registration information being stored in a first storage device which is provided in the multi-domain service broker device and which is different from a second storage device accessed by the network service management device; a service agreement step in which a request is received from the customer, brokerage between bandwidth brokers of the respective domains is performed by the multi-domain service broker device based on the registration information stored in the first storage device, the brokerage including notifying, from the multi-domain service broker device to a bandwidth broker that has initiated a request, information identifying a bandwidth broker of an adjacent domain that satisfies the required quality level among bandwidth brokers of a plurality of adjacent domains, said multi-domain service broker device and said network service management device reach an agreement relating to service conditions for providing a service which will satisfy the required quality level, a service level agreement is made between the network service management devices through the multi-domain service broker device, and route information for an appropriate domain and a network service management device are selected for ensuring an end-to-end quality level required by the customer based on the service information and domain information; and a service provisioning step for performing service provisioning on a communication device based on service conditions and route information agreed upon in said network service management device, the service provisioning including a design of a route that satisfies the required quality level, the design including designing, by a network service management device that has received the notified information, a route within a domain that corresponds to the network service management device that has received the notified information. - View Dependent Claims (5)

A service broker device in an interconnected network for a network comprising a plurality of operations management networks (domains) which are connected to a plurality of customer networks with user terminals and which are respectively managed by different providers, the service broker device comprising:

a first storage device which is different from a second storage device accessed by each network service management device belonging to each provider that provides a network resource; and a broker function for receiving service information on services which can be provided by the respective domains and domain information which includes network configuration information relating to the operations management networks which are output from network service management devices belonging to respective ones of the providers, the service information including bandwidth information, storing information on the plurality of operations management networks managed by the respective providers, the storing of the information including storing the service information and the domain information into the first storage device, and brokering a service level agreement between the operations management networks which are managed by the providers and which are to be interconnected based on a required quality level from a customer by selecting route information and a network service management device for ensuring an end-to-end quality level required by the customer based on the received service information and domain information, wherein said service broker device is at a functional upper layer and manages and brokers the plurality of network service management devices, manages network resources of the respective domains, and performs brokerage between bandwidth brokers of the respective domains based on the service information and the domain information stored in the first storage device, the brokerage including notifying, from the service broker device to a bandwidth broker that has initiated a request, information identifying a bandwidth broker of an adjacent domain that satisfies the required quality level among bandwidth brokers of a plurality of adjacent domains.
