1. A light-emitting diode (LED) lamp, comprising:

  • one or more LEDs;

    a dimmer control unit configured to identify a type of dimmer switch providing an input voltage from a plurality of identifiable types of dimmer switches including at least a leading edge dimmer and a trailing edge dimmer, determine a detected dimming amount of the input voltage for the identified type of dimmer switch, and generate one or more control signals to control regulated current through the one or more LEDs such that an output light intensity of the one or more LEDs is proportional to the detected dimming amount; and

    a power converter configured to receive the control signals and provide regulated current to the one or more LEDs, the power converter configured to adjust the regulated current to the one or more LEDs as indicated by the one or more control signals to achieve the output light intensity proportional to the detected dimming amount.
