Abstract

A digital broadcasting system and a data processing method are disclosed. A receiving system of the digital broadcasting system includes a baseband processor, a management processor, and a presentation processor. The baseband processor receives broadcast signals including mobile service data and main service data. Herein, the mobile service data may configure a RS frame, which includes mobile service data and table information describing channel configuration information and IP access information of an ensemble level corresponding to the RS frame. The table information is encapsulated to a UDP/IP header. The management processor processes table information from the RS frame to acquire channel configuration information and IP access information of an ensemble level, and accesses mobile service data requested to be received from the RS frame, based upon the acquired information. The presentation processor decodes the accessed mobile service data and outputs the decoded data to a display screen and/or a speaker.

Claims

1. A method of processing data for a broadcast receiver, the method comprising:

receiving and demodulating a broadcast signal comprising groups that include first channel information including information for rapid mobile service acquisition, second channel information including version information for identifying an update of the first channel information, a plurality of known data sequences, and mobile service data in Reed-Solomon (RS) frames, wherein each of the RS frames is divided into a plurality of portions, and wherein each of the groups includes one of the plurality of portions, the plurality of known data sequences, a portion of the first channel information, and the second channel information;

building the RS frames which belong to an ensemble by collecting the mobile service data of the demodulated broadcast signal;

decoding the built RS frames for forward error correction (FEC);

extracting a service map table (SMT) from the ensemble identified by an ensemble identifier, wherein Internet protocol (IP) datagrams carrying the SMT have a well-known target IP address and a well-known target user datagram protocol (UDP) port number; and

accessing to IP datagrams of the mobile service data according to mobile service acquisition information included in the extracted SMT.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the portion of the first channel information and the second channel information are positioned between a first known data sequence and a second known data sequence of the plurality of known data sequences.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein at least two of the plurality of known data sequences are spaced 16 segments apart and at least two of the plurality of known data sequences have different lengths.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the SMT includes the ensemble identifier identifying the ensemble.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the SMT is differentiated by utilizing a table identifier and the ensemble identifier included therein.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the SMT is encapsulated with a UDP header and an IP header.

7. A broadcast receiver comprising:

a receiving unit for receiving and demodulating a broadcast signal comprising groups that include first channel information including information for rapid mobile service acquisition, second channel information including version information for identifying an update of the first channel information, a plurality of known data sequences, and mobile service data in Reed-Solomon (RS) frames, wherein each of the RS frames is divided into a plurality of portions, and wherein each of the groups includes one of the plurality of portions, the plurality of known data sequences, a portion of the first channel information, and the second channel information;

an RS frame decoder for building the RS frames which belong to an ensemble by collecting the mobile service data of the demodulated broadcast signal and decoding the built RS frames for forward error correction (FEC);

a first handler for extracting a service map table (SMT) from the ensemble identified by an ensemble identifier, wherein Internet protocol (IP) datagrams carrying the SMT have a well-known target IP address and a well-known target user datagram protocol (UDP) port number; and

a second handler for accessing to IP datagrams of the mobile service data according to mobile service acquisition information included in the extracted SMT.

8. The broadcast receiver of claim 7, wherein the portion of the first channel information and the second channel information are positioned between a first known data sequence and a second known data sequence of the plurality of known data sequences.

9. The broadcast receiver of claim 7, wherein at least two of the plurality of known data sequences are spaced 16 segments apart and at least two of the plurality of known data sequences have different lengths.

10. The broadcast receiver of claim 7, wherein the SMT includes the ensemble identifier identifying the ensemble.

11. The broadcast receiver of claim 10, wherein the SMT is differentiated by utilizing a table identifier and the ensemble identifier included therein.

12. The broadcast receiver of claim 7, wherein the SMT is encapsulated with a UDP header and an IP header.

13. A method of processing data for a broadcast transmitter, the method comprising:

encoding, by a Reed-Solomon (RS) encoder, mobile service data for forward error correction (FEC) to generate RS frames belonging to an ensemble;

dividing each of the RS frames into a plurality of portions;

mapping one of the plurality of portions into a group;

adding a plurality of known data sequences, a portion of first channel information, and second channel information to the group, wherein the first channel information includes information for rapid mobile service acquisition, and wherein the second channel information includes version information for identifying an update of the first channel information; and

transmitting a broadcast signal including the group,

wherein the ensemble includes a service map table (SMT) having mobile service acquisition information, and

wherein Internet protocol (IP) datagrams carrying the SMT have a well-known target IP address and a well-known target user datagram protocol (UDP) port number.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the portion of the first channel information and the second channel information are positioned between a first known data sequence and a second known data sequence of the plurality of known data sequences.

15. The method of claim 13, wherein at least two of the plurality of known data sequences are spaced 16 segments apart and at least two of the plurality of known data sequences have different lengths.

16. The method of claim 13, wherein the SMT includes an ensemble identifier identifying the ensemble.

17. The method of claim 16, wherein the SMT is differentiated by utilizing a table identifier and the ensemble identifier included therein.

18. The method of claim 13, wherein the SMT is encapsulated with a UDP header and an IP header.

19. A broadcast transmitter comprising:

a Reed-Solomon (RS) encoder for encoding mobile service data for forward error correction (FEC) to generate RS frames belonging to an ensemble and dividing each of the RS frames into a plurality of portions;

a group formatting means for mapping one of the plurality of portions into a group and adding a plurality of known data sequences, a portion of first channel information, and second channel information to the group, wherein the first channel information includes information for rapid mobile service acquisition, and wherein the second channel information includes version information for identifying an update of the first channel information; and

a transmitting means for transmitting a broadcast signal including the group,

wherein the ensemble includes a service map table (SMT) having mobile service acquisition information, and

wherein Internet protocol (IP) datagrams carrying the SMT have a well-known target IP address and a well-known target user datagram protocol (UDP) port number.

20. The broadcast transmitter of claim 19, wherein the portion of the first channel information and the second channel information are positioned between a first known data sequence and a second known data sequence of the plurality of known data sequences.

21. The broadcast transmitter of claim 19, wherein at least two of the plurality of known data sequences are spaced 16 segments apart and at least two of the plurality of known data sequences have different lengths.

22. The broadcast transmitter of claim 19, wherein the SMT includes an ensemble identifier identifying the ensemble.

23. The broadcast transmitter of claim 22, wherein the SMT is differentiated by utilizing a table identifier and the ensemble identifier included therein.

24. The broadcast transmitter of claim 19, wherein the SMT is encapsulated with a UDP header and an IP header.
