Abstract

Information or items that otherwise might be carried in a person'"'"'s wallet or purse may be managed and stored on a mobile phone. Embodiments include a software application loaded on a mobile phone and an Internet website through which certain information can be transmitted to the phone by the user, third parties, or both. A user may be alerted to certain information or changes in information that meet certain criteria. The website may provide secure storage for information, filter information, and send encrypted and compressed nuggets or fractions of information to the phone for storage based on topic. E-mails may be searched for information, information may be sent to different parties, and signals may be sent locally to exchange information. Personal information may include account information, credit information or credit related information, financial information, or travel information, for example.

Claims

1. A system for managing information for multiple users using the Internet and mobile phones of the users, the system comprising:

a first software module for sorting information, wherein the first software module is recorded on a computer-readable medium and includes programming instructions to;

receive multiple select e-mails containing information about the business of the user;

search more than one of the select e-mails for at least one of keywords and identifying numbers;

extract particular information from the select e-mails, wherein the particular information consists of a portion of the information within each select email and the particular information does not include the whole of each select email;

send the particular information, that consists of the portion of the information within each select email that does not include the whole of each select email, to the user'"'"'s mobile phone through a mobile phone network; and

a second software module for running on the user'"'"'s mobile phone wherein the second software module is recorded on a computer-readable medium and includes programming instructions to;

store the particular information, that consists of the portion of the information within each select email that does not include the whole of each select email, on the user'"'"'s mobile phone; and

provide access to the particular information, that consists of the portion of the information within each select email that does not include the whole of each select email, by the user.

2. The system of claim 1 further comprising a third software module configured for running on the user'"'"'s computer, wherein the third software module is recorded on a computer-readable medium and includes programming instructions to search for e-mails from at least one particular sender and to send the e-mails from the at least one particular sender, through the Internet, to the first software module.

The system of claim 1 wherein the first software module includes programming instructions to encrypt the particular information before sending the particular information to the user'"'"'s mobile phone, and wherein the second software module includes programming instructions to decrypt the particular information.

The system of claim 1 wherein the first software module includes programming instructions to compress the particular information before sending the particular information to the user'"'"'s mobile phone, and wherein the second software module includes programming instructions to decompress the particular information.

The system of claim 1 wherein the first software module includes programming instructions to receive instructions from the user identifying at least one threshold for alarm for at least a portion of the particular information, and wherein at least one of the first software module and the second software module includes programming instructions to compare at least a portion of the particular information to the threshold, and wherein at least one of the first software module and the second software module includes programming instructions to provide an alarm to the user if the particular information passes the threshold.

The system of claim 5 wherein, for each of multiple users, the particular information includes financial account information including amounts of at least one of withdrawals and debits from an account, the at least one threshold includes the amount of a withdrawal or debit, and wherein at least one of the first software module and the second software module includes programming instructions to provide an alarm to the user if at least one of a withdrawal and a debit exceeds the threshold.

The system of claim 5 wherein, for each of multiple users, the particular information includes travel information including at least one of a departure time and a departure location, and wherein at least one of the first software module and the second software module includes programming instructions to provide an alarm if there is a change in at least one of the departure time and the departure location.

The system of claim 7 wherein, for at least a plurality of the users, the second software module contains programming instructions to allow the user to select at least a portion of the particular information that is stored on the mobile phone, select or enter a third party mobile phone number, and elect to send the at least a portion of the particular information to the third party mobile phone.

The system of claim 8 wherein, for multiple users, the first software module further contains instructions to evaluate whether the third party mobile phone contains a copy of the second software module, and if the third party mobile phone contains a copy of the second software module, then to send the at least a portion of the personal information to the copy of the second software module on the third party mobile phone through the mobile phone network.

The system of claim 1 further comprising a third software module running on the user'"'"'s computer, wherein the third software module includes programming instructions to search for e-mails from at least one particular sender and to send the e-mails from the at least one particular sender, through the Internet, to the first software module;

wherein the first software module includes programming instructions to encrypt the particular information before sending the particular information to the user'"'"'s mobile phone, and wherein the second software module includes programming instructions to decrypt the particular information;

wherein the first software module includes programming instructions to compress the particular information before sending the particular information to the user'"'"'s mobile phone, and wherein the second software module includes programming instructions to decompress the particular information;

wherein the first software module includes programming instructions to receive instructions from the user identifying at least one threshold for alarm for at least a portion of the particular information, and wherein at least one of the first software module and the second software module includes programming instructions to compare at least a portion of the particular information to the threshold, and wherein at least one of the first software module and the second software module includes programming instructions to provide an alarm to the user if the particular information passes the threshold;

wherein, for each of multiple users, the particular information includes financial account information including amounts of at least one of withdrawals and debits from an account, the at least one threshold includes the amount of a withdrawal or debit, and wherein at least one of the first software module and the second software module includes programming instructions to provide an alarm to the user if at least one of a withdrawal and a debit exceeds the threshold; and

wherein, for each of a plurality of the users, the particular information includes travel information including at least one of a departure time and a departure location, and wherein at least one of the first software module and the second software module includes programming instructions to provide an alarm if there is a change in at least one of the departure time and the departure location.

11. A method of managing information for multiple users using the Internet and mobile phones of the users, the method comprising in any order at least:

for each of multiple users, receiving at an information sorting software module, multiple select e-mails containing information about the business of the user, wherein the user has caused the select e-mails to be sent to the information sorting software module;

for each of more than one of the users, using the information sorting software module, searching more than one of the select e-mails for at least one of keywords and identifying numbers;

for each of multiple users, using the information sorting software module, extracting the particular information from the select e-mails, wherein the particular information consists of a portion of the information within each select email and the particular information does not include the whole of each select email;

for each of more than one of the users, sending the particular information, that consists of the portion of the information within each select email that does not include the whole of each select email, to the user'"'"'s mobile phone through a mobile phone network for storage on the user'"'"'s mobile phone and access by the user; and

repeating multiple times the searching, the extracting, and the sending.

The method of claim 11, further comprising, for each of multiple users, using the information sorting software module, searching more than one of the select e-mails for at least one of keywords and identifying numbers, and identifying a fraction of the select e-mails containing the particular information, and wherein the extracting of the particular information includes extracting the particular information only from the fraction of the select e-mails.

The method of claim 11, further comprising, for multiple users, before the receiving of the select e-mails, configuring the user'"'"'s e-mail handling software module to automatically forward incoming e-mails from at least one particular third party to the information sorting module, wherein select e-mails include the incoming e-mails from the at least one particular third party.

14. The method of claim 11, further comprising, for more than one of the users, before the receiving of the select e-mails, instructing at least one particular third party to send e-mails containing information about the business of the user to the information sorting module, wherein select e-mails include the e-mails containing information about the business of the user.

The method of claim 11 wherein, for each of a plurality of the users, the searching includes searching for e-mails from at least one particular sender and wherein the extracting of the particular information includes extracting the particular information only from the e-mails from the at least one particular sender.

16. The method of claim 11 further comprising, for each of more than one of the users, after the extracting of the particular information, and before the sending of the particular information to the user'"'"'s mobile phone, encrypting the particular information.

17. The method of claim 11 further comprising, for each of a plurality of the users, after the extracting of the particular information, and before the sending of the particular information to the user'"'"'s mobile phone, compressing the particular information.

18. The method of claim 11 further comprising, for each of multiple users, receiving instructions from the user identifying at least one threshold for alarm for at least a portion of the particular information, and after the extracting of the particular information, comparing at least a portion of the particular information to the threshold for alarm, and providing an alarm to the user if the particular information passes the threshold.

19. The method of claim 18 wherein, for each of at least two of the users, the particular information includes financial account information including an amount of at least one of a withdrawal and a debit from an account, and the threshold is an amount of the withdrawal or debit beyond which the alarm is provided.

20. The method of claim 18 wherein, for each of more than one of the users, the particular information includes travel information including at least one of a departure time and a departure location, and wherein an alarm is provided if there is a change in at least one of the departure time and the departure location.

21. The method of claim 11 further comprising, for at least two of the users, upon instruction by the user, transmitting at least a portion of the particular information to a third party mobile phone through the mobile phone network for storage on the third party mobile phone, for access by the third party, wherein the at least a portion of the particular information does not include a complete e-mail.

22. The method of claim 21 wherein the at least a portion of the particular information includes a travel itinerary.

23. A system for managing information for one or more users using the Internet and mobile phones of the one or more users, the system comprising:

a first software module for sorting information, wherein the first software module is recorded on a computer-readable medium and includes programming instructions to;

receive one or more select e-mails containing information about the business of the user;

search one or more of the select e-mails for at least one of keywords and identifying numbers;

extract particular information from the one or more select e-mails, wherein the particular information consists of a portion of the information within each select email and the particular information does not include the whole of each select email;

send the particular information, that consists of the portion of the information within each select email that does not include the whole of each select email, to the user'"'"'s mobile phone through a mobile phone network; and

a second software module for running on the user'"'"'s mobile phone wherein the second software module is recorded on a computer-readable medium and includes programming instructions to;

store the particular information, that consists of the portion of the information within each select email that does not include the whole of each select email, on the user'"'"'s mobile phone; and

provide access to the particular information, that consists of the portion of the information within each select email that does not include the whole of each select email, by the user.

The system of claim 23 wherein the first software module includes programming instructions to receive instructions from the user identifying at least one threshold for alarm for at least a portion of the particular information, and wherein at least one of the first software module and the second software module includes programming instructions to compare at least a portion of the particular information to the threshold, and wherein at least one of the first software module and the second software module includes programming instructions to provide an alarm to the user if the particular information passes the threshold.

25. The system of claim 24 wherein, for each of the one or more users, the particular information includes travel information, financial information, credit information, credit related information, whether a credit inquiry is performed, credit rating, credit score, and late payment information, and wherein at least one of the first software module and the second software module includes programming instructions to provide an alarm if there is a change in at least one of the travel information, financial information, credit information, credit related information, whether a credit inquiry is performed, credit rating, and credit score, late payment information.

26. A method of managing information for one or more users using the Internet and mobile phones of the one or more users, the method comprising in any order at least:

for each of one or more users, receiving at an information sorting software module, one or more select e-mails containing information about the business of the user, wherein the user has caused the one or more select e-mails to be sent to the information sorting software module;

for each of the one or more of the users, using the information sorting software module, searching one or more of the select e-mails for at least one of keywords and identifying numbers;

for each of one or more users, using the information sorting software module, extracting the particular information from the one or more select e-mails, wherein the particular information consists of a portion of the information within each select email and the particular information does not include the whole of each select email;

for each of the one or more users, sending the particular information, that consists of the portion of the information within each select email that does not include the whole of each select email, to the user'"'"'s mobile phone through a mobile phone network for storage on the user'"'"'s mobile phone and access by the user; and

repeating multiple times the searching, the extracting, and the sending.
