1. A computer implemented method of displaying chromatographic separation data, comprising:
- acquiring, using a separation system comprising a detector and a computer system, a first series of measurements for a first sample, wherein the first series of measurements indicates the presence of constituents in the first sample, the first sample constituents detected at a single point along the length of a channel as they move through the channel past that point;
displaying, using the computer system, the first series of measurements for the first sample as a first lane comprising a first series of bands;
acquiring, using the separation system, a second series of measurements for a second sample, the second sample constituents detected at the single point along the length of the channel as they move through the channel past that point; and
displaying, using the computer system, the second series of measurements for the second sample as a second lane comprising a second series of bands, wherein the first lane and the second lane are displayed as a parallel set of lanes.

Abstract
Techniques and systems for displaying chromatographic data using a graphical user interface are provided. Chromatographic separation data that represent a series of measurements for multiple samples detected at a single point along the length of a channel as they move through the channel past that point can be displayed on a display device of a computer system as a series of bands, the bands being arranged to resemble output from an electrophoresis gel. The bands may be aligned using a marker included in each sample.

7. A system comprising:
-
a device on which at least first and second samples are subjected to a chromatographic separation process; an instrument configured to receive the device, the instrument comprising a detection system that detects results of the chromatographic separation process and instrumentation for controlling fluid or material transport and direction within the device; and a computer system that displays chromatographic separation data corresponding to results received from the instrument, wherein the computer system comprises; a processor; and a non-transitory computer readable medium coupled to the processor that stores a computer program that presents the chromatographic separation data from each sample as a lane comprising a series of bands; wherein the computer program presents a first lane comprising a series of bands from chromatographic separation data from the first sample and a second lane comprising a series of bands from chromatographic separation data from the second sample as a parallel set of lanes; and wherein the computer program also identifies a band in the first series of bands that corresponds to a marker contained in the first sample, identifies a band in the second series of bands that corresponds to the same marker contained in the second sample, and aligns the bands when presenting the first and second lanes as a parallel set of lanes.
