1. A location determination system, comprising:
- a map comprising a plurality of transition patterns for a single geographic feature, each transition pattern being different from the other transition patterns;
a device capable of detecting radio network identification codes for generating a measured transition pattern; and
a computer processor that generates an approximate physical location of the device based on the measured transition pattern and the map, the computer processor implementing a matching algorithm that compensates for missing or extra cellular transitions in the measured transition pattern based on at least one of probabilities of transition patterns or deduction from previous matched transition patterns.

11. A method for determining a location of a computing device, the method comprising:
