1. An irrigated ablation catheter assembly comprising:

  • a catheter including a catheter shaft having a lumen;

    an irrigated ablation electrode assembly including a proximal portion and a distal portion disposed distally of the proximal portion,the proximal portion having a body portion including an outer surface, an inner cavity within the body portion, and at least one passageway that extends from the inner cavity to the outer surface of the body portion; and

    a flow member having a body including a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the proximal end of the flow member is coupled or connected to the catheter shaft and the distal end of the flow member is disposed about the proximal portion of the electrode assembly so as to overlay an outlet for the passageway,further wherein the body of the flow member includes a plurality of axial passageways disposed within an inner surface of the body, the passageways extending within a portion of the body to the distal end of the body.
