1. A method for presenting a stereoscopic electronic programming guidance application to a user, wherein the electronic programming guidance application is viewed through a stereoscopic optical device worn by the user, the method comprising:

  • displaying, using a user equipment device with a display screen, a first selectable video guidance object, amongst a plurality of video guidance objects, that when viewed through the stereoscopic optical device appears in a first plane;

    displaying, using the user equipment device, in addition to the plurality of video guidance objects, a second selectable video guidance object that when viewed through the stereoscopic optical device appears in a second plane, wherein;

    the second plane is perceived to intersect an axis normal to the display screen in a different location than the first plane;

    the second selectable video guidance object is in a subset of subject matter identified by the first selectable video guidance object;

    the subject matter relationship between the first and second selectable video guidance objects is metaphorically represented by a perceived shape and a perceived depth of the first and second selectable video guidance objects within the stereoscopic electronic programming guidance application;

    the first and the second selectable video guidance objects correspond to a common video based on their perceived shapes belonging to a common metaphoric model;

    respective sizes of the first and second selectable video guidance objects and distance between the first and second selectable video guidance objects is determined based on the subject matter relationship between the first and second selectable video guidance objects; and

    the perceived depth represents a ranking of a characteristic of the second selectable video guidance object relative to the first selectable video guidance object within the subset; and

    receiving a user selection of at least one of the first and second selectable video guidance objects.
