1. A system configured to measure at least one analyte in a host, the system comprising:
- a fluid coupler configured to couple with a vascular access device configured for insertion into a host;
at least one analyte sensor, wherein at least a portion of the at least one analyte sensor is located in the fluid coupler;
a processor operatively connected to the at least one analyte sensor, wherein the processor is configured to process sensor data from the at least one analyte sensor and to evaluate a change in sensitivity by comparing measured sensitivity values the at least one analyte sensor based at least in part on a priori sensitivity information comprising an acceptable change in measured sensitivity; and
a flow control device configured to regulate exposure of the at least one analyte sensor to a biological sample according to a flow profile.
