1. An endoluminal prosthesis device, comprising:
- a) a graft that operates as a conduit for blood, the graft defining a longitudinal axis and a radial axis; and
b) a stent formed from a metallic tubular member and cut into features having widths, lengths and thicknesses, including struts, coupled to said graft and also defining a longitudinal axis and a radial axis, said stent including at least one barb, each barb including an anchor portion and a shape set twisted neck biased for rotating the barb radially outward relative to the longitudinal axis of the stent, each barb being part of and extending from an intersection of struts forming the stent, each shape set twisted neck being cut from the tubular member with a predetermined width and twisted about 90 degrees such that its width becomes its thickness, thereby increasing its strength, the stent, including the barbs, being a one piece, unitary structure.

Abstract
A stent is provided for an endoprosthesis having a main body portion and two leg portions, particularly suitable for treatment of an abdominal aortic aneurism. The stent includes barbs that are twisted and shaped set to point radially outward. Each barb, as formed, points substantially perpendicular relative to the longitudinal axis of the stent, even when in a non-deployed configuration. The motion to move the barb into a deployed configuration for gripping tissue is a twisting motion which moves the barb from being substantially aligned with the circumference of the stent to extending radially outwards from the stent.
