1. An intravascular filter comprising:
- a filter support structure having an open state and a closed state;
a filter media disposed on the filter support structure, the media comprising a plurality of circular apertures formed through the filter media, each of the apertures having a shape having a circumferential edge that is etched to include a rounded shoulder that defines an inlet of the aperture;
wherein blood flowing through the filter experiences a shear force when flowing through the apertures; and
wherein the shape of the apertures limits the shear force to below the shear force that causes significant formation of clots in the blood.

-
a filter support structure having an open state and a closed state; a filter media disposed on the filter support structure, the media comprising a plurality of circular apertures extending through the filter media, each of the apertures including a circumferential edge, wherein the circumferential edge is chemically etched to include a rounded shoulder that defines an inlet of the aperture; wherein blood flowing through the filter experiences a shear force when flowing through the apertures; and wherein the shape of the rounded shoulder of the apertures limits the shear force to below the shear force that causes significant formation of clots in the blood. - View Dependent Claims (7, 8, 9)
