First Claim
1. A method executing on one or more computing devices for providing a user with a set of user-generated labels for tagging an item, the method comprising:
- providing an item for display to a user;
receiving an indication of a request from a user to tag the item;
identifying a user-generated label set, being uniquely associated with the item in response to being previously used to tag the item or otherwise pre-assigned to the item, the user-generated label set comprising a plurality of user-generated labels;
identifying using the one or more computing devices two or more user-generated labels of the plurality of user-generated labels in response to receiving the indication, each user-generated label of the plurality of user-generated labels representing a sentiment regarding the item and being associated with a fitness value, comprising selecting at least one user-generated label of the two or more user-generated labels from the plurality of user-generated labels based on the fitness value of the at least one user-generated label and further comprising analyzing the sentiment represented by at least one user-generated label of the two or more user-generated labels based on the relation of the sentiment represented by the at least one user-generated label of the two or more user-generated labels to a pre-defined set of basic emotions,wherein the set of user-generated labels are selected to provide a spectrum of sentiments regarding the item, such that at least two of the user-generated labels of the selected user-generated labels provide opposite sentiments from one another;
identifying display information regarding the two or more user-generated labels, the display information including one or more of size, color or location information for visually representing each of the two or more user-generated labels, wherein the size, color or location information for visually representing at least one user-generated label of the two or more user-generated labels is different from the size, color or location information for visually representing at least another user-generated label of the two or more user-generated labels; and

Abstract
A system and machine-implemented method for providing a user with a set of user-generated labels for tagging an item, including receiving an indication of a request from a user to tag an item, identifying one or more user-generated labels of a plurality of user-generated labels corresponding to the item in response to receiving the indication, each user-generated label of the plurality of user-generated labels representing a sentiment regarding the item and being associated with a fitness value and providing for display of the one or more user-generated labels to the user, and for receiving an entry from the user, the entry comprising an alternative user-generated label corresponding to the item, wherein the alternative user-generated label is different from the one or more user-generated labels.
