1. A lateral electric field mode liquid crystal device comprising:

  • a first substrate having pixel electrodes and common electrodes which are provided on one surface thereof;

    a second substrate disposed so as to face that the surface of the first substrate with a predetermined distance therebetween;

    a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between the first substrate and the second substrate; and

    a loop-shaped sealing member disposed so as to surround the liquid crystal layer, with the liquid crystal device driving the liquid crystal layer by an electric field generated between the pixel electrodes and the common electrodes,wherein on the surface of the first substrate disposed close to the liquid crystal layer, a driving circuit and wirings electrically connected to the driving circuit are formed,wherein on the surface of the second substrate disposed close to the liquid crystal layer, an electrostatic shielding layer and an insulating layer including a light shielding layer and an overcoat layer are formed,wherein the wirings and the electrostatic shielding layer are electrically connected via a conductive member which is formed in an exposed portion of the insulating layer at the outer circumference of the sealing member, andwherein the exposed portion is provided by removing the light shielding layer and the overcoat layer around the conductive member.
