1. A pneumatic tire with built-in sealant layer comprising:

  • an outer circumferential rubber tread, a supporting carcass therefore, an optional rubber inner liner disposed inwardly from the supporting carcass, a built-in sealant layer disposed inwardly from the supporting carcass and, if the optional rubber inner liner is present, inwardly from the optional rubber inner liner as well, an innermost rubber inner liner disposed inwardly from the built-in sealant layer and having a plurality of spaced apart openings extending therethrough with each opening defining an open width, and a gas permeable sheet situated between the built-in sealant layer and the innermost rubber inner liner to cover the openings, wherein the built-in sealant layer provides self-sealing properties to the pneumatic tire.
