1. A set top box, comprising:
- a processor; and
a memory storing instructions that are executable by the processor to perform operations comprising;
receiving an interactive callback address from a game server;
sending an image that corresponds to the interactive callback address to a display device;
receiving first user input indicating a selection of the image;
storing information associated with a first channel being displayed when the first user input is received;
sending a game setup menu to the display device in response to the first user input;
receiving second user input indicating a selection of a particular game and identifying a wireless communication device used by a player;
sending game navigation information associated with the wireless communication device to the display device;
sending a unique identifier obtained from the game server and associated with the particular game to the display device; and
when the game setup menu terminates, tuning to the first channel based on the stored information associated with the first channel.

Abstract
A system, method and computer program enable an interactive game. A game server, in response to a user request, provides a unique identifier associated with an instance of the interactive game. The game server forwards one or more invitations to join the interactive game in accordance with the user request. Thereafter, the game server registers one or more wireless communication devices to be used as data controllers for use by participants that join the game.

11. A method comprising:
-
receiving first commands from a first wireless device at an interactive game server via a first network, wherein the first commands are forwarded to the interactive game server from a set top box, wherein the first commands are associated with a game instance of a particular game; receiving, via a cellular network, second commands associated with the game instance at the interactive game server, the second commands sent from a second wireless device that is remotely located from the set top box; receiving a first request at the interactive game server to pause the game instance; receiving a second request at the interactive game server to resume the game instance when the second wireless device is collocated with the set top box; and resuming the game instance at the interactive game server, wherein the first commands from the first wireless device and third commands from the second wireless device are forwarded to the interactive game server via the first network from the set top box after resuming the game instance. - View Dependent Claims (12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17)

18. A computer readable tangible medium comprising instructions executable by a processor to perform a method, the method comprising:
-
receiving a request via a first network for a game instance from a set top box, wherein the request includes first identification information associated with at least one local player and second identification information of a wireless device associated with a remote player; sending a unique identifier of the game instance to the set top box via the first network; sending an invite to join the game instance as a message service message via a cellular network to the wireless device associated with the remote player, wherein the invite includes the unique identifier; receiving third identification information associated with at least one game player from the set top box via the first network, wherein the third information is sent from a game console used by the at least one game player, and wherein the third identification information includes the unique identifier and information about the game console; receiving the unique identifier from the wireless device of the remote player; starting the game instance; receiving commands associated with the game instance from the game console via the first network; receiving commands associated with the game instance from the wireless device via the cellular network; sending first visuals associated with the game instance to the at least one game player via the first network to the set top box; sending second visuals associated with the game instance to the remote player via the cellular network; detecting an interruption of the game instance; retrieving information identifying an alternative controller associated with a particular game player; and resuming the interrupted game instance based on the retrieved information. - View Dependent Claims (19, 20)
