1. A method to create an anastomosis through a chest wall joined to an opening in a visceral membrane of a lung comprising the steps of:

  • forming an adhesion between a chest wall and a visceral membrane of the lung that is sealed from the pleural space;

    forming a channel through the adhesion which communicates with an opening in the visceral membrane of the lung; and

    inserting a structural framework in the channel such that said structural framework is in contact with the channel and which structural framework is a lattice that can promote fibrosis.
