1. A method for reducing sweat, the method comprising:
- positioning an ultrasound probe on a skin surface, the ultrasound probe comprising at least one ultrasound therapy element;
targeting a region of interest under the skin surface, wherein the region of interest comprises a sweat gland;
using the at least one ultrasound therapy element to create a plurality of thermal lesions to thermally ablate the sweat gland in the region of interest to reduce sweat,wherein the at least one ultrasound therapy element is configured to deliver ultrasound energy at a depth below the skin surface.

Abstract
Methods for ultrasound treatment of hyperhidrosis are provided. Various methods and systems for targeted treatment of sweat glands can be configured in various manners, such as through use of therapy only, therapy and monitoring, imaging and therapy, or therapy, imaging, and monitoring, and/or through use of focused, unfocused, or defocused ultrasound through control of various spatial and temporal parameters. As a result, thermal and/or ablative energy can be deposited at the particular depth at which the sweat gland population is located below the skin surface. Ultrasound and non-ultrasound treatments for hyperhidrosis are provided.

15. A method for reducing sweat by thermally lesioning at least one sweat gland, the method comprising:
-
identifying a subject having a region of interest comprising at least one sweat gland; placing an ultrasound probe on a skin surface overlying the region of interest; targeting therapeutic acoustic waves, via at least one ultrasound treatment element housed within the ultrasound probe, through the skin surface to the region of interest to create a plurality of thermal lesions along a line at a depth of about 1 mm to about 7 mm below the skin surface, wherein the line of lesions is generated using an automated motion mechanism that controls motion of the at least one ultrasound treatment element. - View Dependent Claims (16, 17)

18. A method for reducing sweat, the method comprising:
-
transmitting ultrasonic energy, via an ultrasound element, to create a first ablative lesion in a first sweat gland; and moving the ultrasound element, via a motion mechanism, to create a second ablative lesion in a second sweat gland wherein the first and second ablative lesions reduce the amount of sweat produced from the first and second sweat glands. - View Dependent Claims (19, 20)
