1. A blast energy mitigation structure adapted to surround and cover a blast energy absorbing structure under a vehicle, the blast energy mitigation structure comprising:

  • a V-hull comprising a perforated substrate connected to and extending longitudinally along the underside of the blast energy absorbing structure, the V-hull comprising three portions, one inner and two outer, that extend longitudinally along the underside of the blast energy absorbing structure, the inner portion being substantially parallel to the underside of the blast energy absorbing structure, and each outer portion depending outward and upward from the inner portion, thereby forming a cross-section that resembles a modified “

    V”

    in form;

    wherein the blast energy absorbing structure comprises structural members fastened together to form a truss-like structure, the truss-like structure forming the shape of and supporting the V-hull; and

    wherein the V-hull is adapted to divert and decrease a pressure wave from an explosive device detonating under the vehicle.
