System and method for enrolling in a biometric system
First Claim
1. A method for enabling a user to access a membership privilege via a biometric system, the method comprising:
- receiving, by a biometric system device, user information for enabling the user to access a membership privilege via the biometric system;
storing, in a database, the user information in a user record;
associating an identification code with the user record;
communicating information about the identification code to the user;
receiving, at a system point of access, a membership privilege access request from the user, the request including the identification code and user biometric data;
storing, in the database, the received user biometric data with the user record associated with the received identification code; and
granting access to the membership privilege.

Abstract
The present invention is a system and method of enrolling potential system users for a biometric system for identity verification. Potential system user information is entered into the system, either by the user or a system operator, and is stored as a partially-enabled user record. The user of a partially-enabled user record fully enables the record by presenting information previously stored in the user record and presenting the remainder of user information necessary to complete record activation. Enrollment data is used to authenticate the system user'"'"'s identity and authorize related transaction accesses in a biometric system for identity verification.

9. A method for enrolling a plurality of users in a biometric system, the method comprising:
-
receiving, by a biometric system device, user information associated with each individual user within a plurality of users, the user information enabling identifying the right of each individual user to access a privilege via the biometric system; storing, in a database, user information for each individual user within the plurality of users in a user record referenced by an identification code; receiving, at a system point of access, an access request from an individual user, the request including an identification code and user biometric data; determining whether the received identification code corresponds with a user record; and enabling the corresponding user record based upon a successful identification code match, wherein the enabling comprises; storing the received user biometric data in association with the corresponding user record; and authorizing the individual user subsequent access to the privilege based upon a successful biometric authorization. - View Dependent Claims (10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16)

17. A method for enabling a user to access a token-based privilege via the presentment of biometric data, the method comprising:
-
associating, in a database, a user identifier with stored user data, the data enabling the user to access a privilege via presentment of a token; communicating, from the database, an indication of the association to the user, said communication requesting the user to submit user biometric data at a system device to enable biometric-based access to the privilege; receiving from the user at a system device, a user identifier and user biometric data; determining whether the received user identifier matches the user identifier associated with the stored user data; and upon a successful match; storing, at the database, the received user biometric data in association with the stored user data, and enabling the user to access to the privilege via biometric authorization upon a subsequent access request. - View Dependent Claims (18, 19, 20)
