1. An apparatus utilized in wireless communications, comprising:
- a processor configured;
to receive an allocation of resources to transmit data and control code symbols, wherein transmission of control code symbols occurs during a primary transmission time interval (TTI) and transmission of data code symbols occurs during a secondary TTI, said primary TTI exceeding said secondary TTI;
to determine periodically whether the data and the control code symbols are to be transmitted during a specific time interval common to the primary and secondary TTI;
to multiplex the data and the control code symbols when the data and the control code symbols are to be transmitted within the specific time interval;
to employ allocated resources for data transmission to convey the multiplexed data and control code symbols; and
to employ allocated control resources to transmit the control code symbols without the data code symbols when the data and the control code symbols are not to be transmitted within the specific time interval; and
a memory coupled to the processor and configured to store data.

Abstract
System(s) and method(s) are provided for transmitting data code symbols and control code symbols spanning disparate transmission time intervals in the uplink. Data and control symbols that overlap in time-domain within a transmission time interval are multiplexed and transmitted employing resources scheduled for data transmission, whereas data and control code symbols that are not multiplexed are transmitted in respective allocated resources. Multiplexing in conjunction with localized and distributed resource scheduling preserves the single-carrier characteristics of a single-carrier frequency division multiple access system.
