- in a multimedia messaging system, using a transmitting device for;
defining presentation parameters for at least one multimedia component included in a first message, the first message comprising address data indicative of a transmitter and a recipient of the first message;
determining a reference to a location of the at least one multimedia component within the first message;
determining a format of the at least one multimedia component within the first message; and
supplementing the first message with a file formed using a synchronized multimedia integration language (SMIL) format, the file comprising the presentation parameters and the reference, and header information indicating the format to form a second message.

Abstract
The invention relates to a method for presenting information contained in messages in a terminal (MS). In the method, the message comprises at least one component. The message is transmitted to a terminal (MS) in a system for transmitting multimedia messages. In the method, a presentation model (SMIL) is formed to contain information related to the presentation of each component attached in the message. Said presentation model (SMIL) is supplemented with a reference about the location of each component in the message, and said presentation model (SMIL) is attached to said message.

an interpretation block configured to interpret a compilation file within the multimedia message, the compilation file formed using a synchronized multimedia integration language (SMIL) format, and comprising presentation parameters including information related to presenting at least one multimedia component included in the multimedia message, the compilation file further comprising a reference to a location of the at least one multimedia component in the multimedia message, the interpretation block further configured to interpret header information indicating a format of the at least one multimedia component to restore the at least one multimedia component to an original data format.

21. A method for providing a multimedia message in a multimedia messaging system, the method comprising:

forming presentation parameters for at least one multimedia component included in a multimedia file; determining a reference to a location of the at least one multimedia component; determining a format of the at least one multimedia component within the first message; supplementing the multimedia file with a compilation file formed using a synchronized multimedia integration language (SMIL) format, the compilation file comprising the presentation parameters and the reference, and header information indicating the format to form the multimedia message; and transmitting the multimedia message to a multimedia terminal in the multimedia messaging system.

using a mobile terminal to receive a multimedia message, the multimedia message including a compilation file formed using a synchronized multimedia integration language (SMIL) format and comprising a reference to a location of the at least one multimedia component in the multimedia message; wherein the mobile terminal is configured to; interpret header information in the multimedia message indicating a format of the at least one multimedia component; use the reference to the location of the at least one multimedia component, to restore the at least one multimedia component to an original data format; and present information contained in the multimedia message using presentation parameters included in the compilation file and related to presenting the at least one multimedia component included in the multimedia message. - View Dependent Claims (23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28)
