A method of presenting a read-only video content presentation comprising a plurality of video segments associable with indicia of which segment(s) are potentially salient wherein at least one salient segment is determined to be salient and at least one non-salient segment is not determined to be salient, comprising:
- simultaneously allocating less time for playing all non-salient segment(s) without modifying any content of the non-salient segment(s) and without materially increasing the allocation of time for playing any salient segment(s); and
presenting for display a time bar that indicates a shorter presentation playtime in response to the allocation of less time for playing all the non-salient segment(s).

A relativity controller is a scroll bar/window combination that provides a way to see data in relation to both the context of its wholeness and the salience of its contents. To accomplish this, the linear density or other appearance of the scroll bar (acting as a ruler or scale) varies with the density of the document salience (as indicated by different kinds of annotations or marks). It also provides a way to zoom between perspectives. This is usable on many different data types: including sound, video, graphics, calendars and word processors.
