1. A communication device, comprising:

  • an input unit configured to receive an indication associated with one or more parameters related to a patient condition including a monitored analyte level, the input unit including a radio frequency (RF) receiver configured to receive remotely generated signals associated with the monitored analyte level;

    a processor operatively coupled to the input unit, the processor configured to process information related to the received indication, the processor configured to determine an acceleration of the monitored analyte level increase or decrease;

    an output unit operatively coupled to the processor and configured to output an output indication based on the processed information; and

    an RF transmitter operatively coupled to the processor and configured to wirelessly transmit one or more signals associated with the processed information;

    wherein the communication device is configured to enter a sleep mode when the input unit has not been activated for a predetermined period of time such that during the sleep mode, the processor continues to process data while the output unit is not activated.
