1. A prosthesis, comprising:

  • a plurality of variable width beams each having a length, a circumferential width which varies along the length of the beam and a radial thickness;

    a plurality of uniform width beams each having a length, a circumferential width which is substantially the same along the length of the beam and a radial thickness, wherein the plurality of variable width beams and uniform width beams cooperate to form a structural body having a first end and a second end which defines a longitudinal axis, the structural body having a collapsed position and an expanded position; and

    a plurality of connecting junctions, each connecting junction connecting an end of a uniform width beam to the end of a variable width beam such that the uniform width beam is located laterally adjacent along the longitudinal axis to the variable width beam to which it connected, wherein the variable width beams and uniform width beams have substantially the same radial thickness and the radial thickness is greater than the largest circumferential width of either the variable width beams or the uniform width beams.
