1. An apparatus for detecting electromyographic signals and monitoring muscle activity, said apparatus comprising:

  • a sensor, for detecting the electromyographic signals, processing means, which, if the electromyographic signals exceed an activation value, then apply an integration algorithm or a frequency transformation algorithm to the detected electromyographic signals, and determine whether the integrated or frequency transformed signals are above a predetermined power content within a first predetermined time window and wherein an event signal is generated if the integrated or frequency transformed electromyographic signals are above the predetermined power content for at least a number of times within a second predetermined time window and wherein the event signal triggers an event, and, first communication means, for transmitting the detected electromyographic signals from the sensor to the processing means.
