1. A balloon catheter, comprising:

  • a) an elongated shaft having a first lumen, and an inner tubular member disposed within at least a distal portion of an outer tubular member and having a second lumen proximal shaft section, a distal shaft section, and a multilayered distal tip which defines a third lumen in fluid communication with the second lumen of the shaft and which has a first layer formed of a polyimide first material and a second layer formed of a polymeric second material different from the polyimide first material; and

    b) a balloon on the distal shaft section, having proximal end, a distal end, and an interior in fluid communication with the first lumen of the shaft;

    wherein the shaft comprises an outer tubular member defining the first lumen and a multilayered inner tubular member defining the second lumen and disposed within the first lumen and having a distal end which forms the multilayered distal tip of the shaft.
