1. A method for generating customized merchandise based upon an character within a virtual environment, the method comprising:

  • receiving, by at least one processor, a request for an article of manufacture from a player of a game in a virtual environment based on a current appearance of a character within the game, the appearance of the entity being changed during play of the game;

    retrieving, by the processor, a merchandise template for a type of article of manufacture from storage based on the request;

    retrieving, by the at least one processor, at least one first data element from a first stored data set based, at least in part, on the merchandise template, wherein the first data set contains a plurality of data elements defining the current appearance of the character within the game for play of the game in the virtual environment and display of the game including the character on a player'"'"'s display device, the first data set being based, at least in part, on a second stored data set comprising second data elements, at least some of the second data elements having a higher resolution than the first data elements;

    translating, by the at least one processor, the at least one retrieved first data element into at least one merchandise characteristic by, at least in part, replacing at least one of the at least one first data elements by a second data element from the second data set, the second data element having a higher resolution than the first data element; and

    causing manufacture of the article of merchandise, based, at least in part, on the at least one merchandise characteristic, by the at least one processor.
