1. A device for controlling displacement of a syringe piston within a syringe that comprises a hollow barrel to contain a fluid, the barrel having a finger flange at an inner end thereof, the syringe piston being slidably engaged in the hollow barrel and having a thumb rest at an outer end thereof, the device comprising:

  • a handheld outer casing;

    a finger flange retainer formed exteriorly of the handheld outer casing to fixedly engage the finger flange;

    a syringe retainer at one end of the outer casing, the syringe retainer comprising a circular recess;

    a thumb rest retainer slidably movable on a first axis relative to the handheld outer casing and adapted to engage the thumb rest;

    a mechanical driver disposed within the handheld outer casing to cause the thumb rest retainer to move along the first axis causing the syringe piston to move outwardly within the hollow barrel to cause the fluid to enter the hollow barrel;

    wherein the handheld outer casing is formed with a longitudinal channel along the first axis that extends to the inner end of the circular recess, a slot being formed at the bottom of the longitudinal channel and extending along the first axis.
