1. An electrode assembly, comprising:

  • an electrically conductive layer that forms an electrode portion of the electrode assembly, the electrically conductive layer having a first surface to be placed adjacent a person'"'"'s skin;

    a first impedance reduction system configured to dispense a first amount of a first electrically conductive gel onto the first surface of the electrically conductive layer in response to a first activation signal; and

    a second impedance reduction system, independently operable of the first impedance reduction system, configured to dispense a second amount of a second electrically conductive gel onto the first surface of the electrically conductive layer in response to a second activation signal that is distinct from the first activation signal.
