Abstract

A method of processing a web service in a Non-Real Time (NRT) service and the broadcast receiver are disclosed herein. A method of providing an NRT service in a broadcasting receiver may include receiving first signaling information, identifying whether a service type of an NRT service is a web service based upon the first signaling information, identifying a web page type and a web page version of the NRT service and browsing the NRT service. The method may further include connecting a service signaling channel, parsing the received first signaling information, determining whether the NRT service is supported in the broadcasting receiver and consuming the web contents of the NRT service. The NRT service may include at least one of a fixed NRT service and a mobile NRT service. The first signaling information may be a data casting description table (DDT) if the NRT service is the fixed NRT service. The first signaling information may be a service map table (SMT) if the NRT service is the mobile NRT service. The DDT may include a first field identifying the NRT service and a second field identifying a type of the NRT service. The type of the web service may include at least one of a web document of text HTML and a web document of CE-HTML. The third field and the fourth field may be valid if the type of the received service is the web service based upon the second field.

Claims

1. A method of transmitting a broadcast signal for a Non-Real Time (NRT) service, the method comprising:

generating the broadcast signal including the NRT service that is delivered in advance of its use and stored in a receiving device, and signaling data including an NRT Information Table (NRT-IT) describing one or more content items available for download to storage in the receiving device for signaling NRT service and signaling data further including a Service Map Table (SMT) containing service-level attributes for the NRT broadcasting, wherein the SMT includes information used as a linkage to the NRT-IT; and

transmitting the NRT service via a broadcast channel and the signaling data via a Service Signaling Channel (SSC) with a specific IP address and UDP port number,

wherein, the NRT service is delivered within IP packets, the IP packets associated with a virtual channel are identified by references in a Virtual Channel Table (VCT) and an associated Program Map Table (PMT), wherein the IP packets are carried in MPEG-2 Transport Stream using Digital Storage Media Command and Control (DSM-CC) Addressable Section format,

wherein the NRT service includes at least one of a portal service and a push service, and

wherein the portal service is a type of the NRT service to browse an internet using a web browser.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the NRT service includes at least one of a fixed NRT service and a mobile NRT service.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the signaling information is a Data Casting Description Table (DCDT) if the NRT service is the fixed NRT service.

4. The method of claim 2, wherein the NRT service includes one or more content items, each of the one or more content items composed of one or more files delivered via File Delivery over Unidirectional Transport (FLUTE) file delivery sessions.

5. The method of claim 3, wherein the DDT includes a first field identifying the NRT service and a second field identifying a type of the NRT service.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the portal service indicates that files needed to support text/graphics rendering are available in associated FLUTE session.

The method of claim 1, wherein the SSC is carried in a portion of the IP packets, wherein each of the FLUTE file delivery sessions includes one or more FLUTE channels, and wherein all of the FLUTE channels in each of the FLUTE file delivery sessions have a same IP address and consecutively numbered UDP ports signaled with a single component descriptor in the SMT.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the SMT is linked to the NRT-IT and carried through the SSC, the SMT describing one or more NRT services, and the NRT-IT providing descriptive metadata about the content items that make up the NRT service.

9. An apparatus for receiving a broadcast signal for a Non-Real Time (NRT) service, the apparatus comprising:

a tuner configured to receive the broadcast signal including the NRT service that is delivered in advance of its use and stored in a receiving device, and signaling data including an NRT Information Table (NRT-IT) describing one or more content items available for download to storage in the receiving device for signaling NRT service and signaling data further including a Service Map Table (SMT) containing service-level attributes for the NRT broadcasting, wherein the SMT includes information used as a linkage to the NRT-IT; and

a receiving unit configured to receive the NRT service via a broadcast channel and the signaling data via a Service Signaling Channel (SSC) with a specific IP address and UDP port number,

wherein, the NRT service is delivered within IP packets, the IP packets associated with a virtual channel are identified by references in a Virtual Channel Table (VCT) and an associated Program Map Table (PMT), wherein the IP packets are carried in MPEG-2 Transport Stream using Digital Storage Media Command and Control (DSM-CC) Addressable Section format,

wherein the NRT service includes at least one of a portal service and a push service, and

wherein the portal service is a type of the NRT service to browse an internet using a web browser.

10. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein the NRT service includes at least one of a fixed NRT service and a mobile NRT service.

11. The apparatus of claim 10, wherein the signaling information is a Data Casting Description Table (DCDT) if the NRT service is the fixed NRT service.

12. The apparatus of claim 10, wherein the NRT service includes one or more content items, each of the one or more content items composed of one or more files delivered via File Delivery over Unidirectional Transport (FLUTE) file delivery sessions.

13. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the DDT includes a first field identifying the NRT service and a second field identifying a type of the NRT service.

14. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein the portal service indicates that files needed to support text/graphics rendering are available in associated FLUTE session.

The apparatus of claim 9, wherein the SSC is carried in a portion of the IP packets, wherein each of the FLUTE file delivery sessions includes one or more FLUTE channels, and wherein all of the FLUTE channels in each of the FLUTE file delivery sessions have a same IP address and consecutively numbered UDP ports signaled with a single component descriptor in the SMT.

16. The apparatus of claim 15, wherein the SMT is linked to the NRT-IT and carried through the SSC, the SMT describing one or more NRT services, and the NRT-IT providing descriptive metadata about the content items that make up the NRT service.
