1. A method for providing a diabetes therapy instruction based on a noise classification in a signal obtained from a continuous glucose sensor, the method comprising:
- receiving a signal from a continuous glucose sensor, the signal indicative of a glucose concentration in a host;
classifying a level of noise on the signal, using a processor module, into one of at least three groups, wherein criteria for classification into each of the three groups are different; and
providing, dependent upon the group into which the noise is classified, at least one of a diabetes therapy instruction, an alarm indicative of hypoglycemia, an alarm indicative of hyperglycemia, an alarm indicative of predicted hypoglycemia, or an alarm indicative of predicted hyperglycemia.
