1. A method of providing a video file to a communications device, the method comprising:
- receiving an electronic request from the communications device that identifies at least one video file in a listing of video files, wherein the at least one video file is available in two or more different digital formats;
automatically identifying with computer hardware comprising one or more computer processors, at least one digital format that is compatible with the communications device;
comparing the digital format that is compatible with the communications device with the two or more different digital formats of the at least one video file to identify at least a first compatible digital format; and
transferring to the communications device, the at least one video file in at least the first compatible digital format.

A device for programming user-defined information into an electronic device is provided. The programmer allows a user to program customized information, such as user-selected audio, video, or Internet access information into his or her programmable device. Such electronic devices include wireless telephones, pagers, and personal digital assistants. The programmer allows a user to, among other things, customize the device to suit his or her particular taste.
