- (a) after the eggs have been placed in the package, mechanically adjusting a position of one or more of the eggs so that all of the eggs assume a substantially same orientation within the package; and
(b) after performing the act (a), marking information on a surface of one or more of the eggs while the eggs are in the package.

Abstract
A method for processing a package of eggs is disclosed which comprises adjusting a position of one or more of the eggs, after the eggs have been placed in the package, so that each of the eggs assumes a particular orientation within the package. In some embodiments, the method may also comprise marking information on a surface of one or more of the eggs after the position of the one or more of the eggs has been adjusted. Additionally, in some embodiments, the position of the one or more eggs may be adjusted using an egg orienter positioned above a conveyor of an egg packing station.

(a) after the eggs have been placed in the package, mechanically adjusting a position of one or more of the eggs so that all of the eggs assume a substantially same orientation within the package, wherein the act (a) further comprises adjusting the position of the one or more eggs in the package so that a long axis of each egg in the package is tilted toward the back of the package so as to be at least slightly offset from vertical. - View Dependent Claims (15, 16, 17)

18. A method for processing a package of eggs, comprising an act of:
(a) after the eggs have been placed in the package, mechanically adjusting a position of one or more of the eggs so that all of the eggs assume a substantially same orientation within the package, wherein the act (a) further comprises adjusting the position of the one or more eggs in the package so that a long axis of each egg in the package is tilted toward the back of the package so as to be offset from vertical by a minimum of 3 degrees. - View Dependent Claims (19)

(a) after the eggs have been placed in the package, mechanically adjusting a position of one or more of the eggs so that all of the eggs assume a substantially same orientation within the package, while the eggs are in a package disposed on a section of a conveyor of an egg packer; and (b) after performing the act (a), laser marking information on a surface of one or more of the eggs while the eggs are in the package and while the package is stationary on the conveyor.
