1. A method for use with a wireless mouse, the method comprising:

  • determining at a processing device whether a state of a user detection signal from a sensor of the wireless mouse indicates at least one of the presence of a user and the absence of the user, wherein the sensor is configured to detect at least one of the presence of the user and the absence of the user;

    determining at the processing device whether a dual mode of operation is at least one of enabled and disabled;

    enabling a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver of the wireless mouse and enabling wireless communication of mouse operations in response to determining that the state of the user detection signal indicates the presence of the user and determining that the dual mode of operation is enabled;

    enabling the GPS receiver and disabling wireless communication of mouse operations in response to determining that the state of the user detection signal indicates the absence of the user; and

    disabling the GPS receiver and enabling wireless communication of mouse operations in response to determining that the state of the user detection signal indicates the presence of the user and determining that the dual mode of operation is disabled.
