1. A computer system for on-line identity verification for a user name of an on-line user, comprising:

  • a computerized, automated verification system which performs computer-performed steps comprising;

    receiving a claimed identity entered by the user into the verification system, wherein the claimed identity comprises a first name, a middle name, a last name, and a mailing address;

    wherein the claimed identity of the on-line user is a claimed identity that has been verified to be an actual identity of exactly one living human;

    issuing, to the on-line user, an on-line identity rating or identification verification icon that is portably useable by the user onto external website pages not part of the verification system;

    based on a result of a checking step, displaying or not displaying a displayable record about the user to a counterparty;

    a website that is part of the verification system;

    a database in which is stored a table of website pages entered by the user into the verification system as being authorized, wherein the table is user-specific;

    the displayable record about the user;

    the on-line identity rating or identity verification icon customized to the on-line user having the claimed identity, having portability including portability onto external website pages not part of the verification system,the identity rating or identity verification icon being located on an external website page and clickable by a counterparty wherein when clicked upon, (1) the verification system provides the clicking counterparty access to a record about the user, if and only if when clicked upon is located on a website page that matches a website page in the table of website pages that the user entered into the verification system as being authorized;

    (2) but if when clicked upon is located on a website page outside the table of website pages, then the verification system does not provide the clicking counterparty access to the record about the user,wherein if placed by a hijacker, who is not the user, onto a website page other than an entry in the user-specific table, will not result in a clicker thereon being provided with the record for the user.
