A topical composition comprising particulates consisting of a first conductive material that is zinc and a second conductive material that is copper, wherein average particle size of said particulates is from about 1 micrometer to about 2 millimeters, and wherein said first conductive material and said second conductive material form a galvanic pair and generate electric current upon topical application, said particulates consisting of a powder of zinc that is partially coated with copper, and said composition comprises a semi-solid dosage form selected from the group consisting of a gel, a hydrogel, a water-in-oil emulsion, an oil-in-water emulsion, a cream, a lotion, an ointment, a multi-emulsion, and a liposome.
