1. A method of improving tissue uptake of a beneficial agent, the method comprising:
- introducing a balloon of a balloon catheter into a lumen of a blood vessel of a subject, the balloon being configured to inflate in less than four seconds and deflate in less than five seconds;
inflating the balloon in less than four seconds and maintaining inflation for a period of time;
deflating the balloon in less than five seconds, andlocally administering the beneficial agent into the lumen of the blood vessel,wherein the beneficial agent is administered while the balloon is inflated.
