- at least one broad distribution light emitting diode (LED), wherein the at least one broad distribution LED comprises at least one high current density LED;
an energy storage device for storing energy; and
a control circuit for causing said stored energy to be applied to said at least one broad distribution LED in a reduced duty cycle while providing current at a rate greater than linear to increase an amount of light emitted by the at least one broad distribution LED and to reduce heat build up at a p-n junction of the at least one broad distribution LED, wherein said at least one broad distribution LED comprises at least one single color LED.
