1. A method for making a medical electrical lead electrode assembly, the method comprising:

  • forming an insulative carrier from an insulative material, the carrier including a first side and a second side, opposite the first side, and the carrier being formed to include an opening therethrough, from the first side to the second side;

    coupling a conductive component to the carrier by inserting a pre-formed tab of the conductive component through the opening in the carrier, from the first side to the second side of the carrier, so that the conductive component is secured to the carrier with the tab of the conductive component extending along a surface of the second side of the carrier and an inward facing surface of an electrode portion of the conductive component being disposed against a surface of the first side of the carrier, the inward facing surface being opposite an outward facing contact surface of the electrode portion;

    electrically coupling an elongate flexible conductor to the tab of the conductive component; and

    forming an insulative layer over the second side of the carrier, over the tab of the conductive component and over the conductor electrically coupled to the tab.
