1. A controller for a process, comprising:
- a processing circuit configured as state machine to transition the controller and the process from a first operating state to a second operating state;
an output coupled to the processing circuit, wherein the processing circuit uses the output to provide control signals to a ventilation affecting device;
wherein in the first operating state the processing circuit operates the process using extremum seeking control; and
wherein in the second operating state the processing circuit operates the process without using extremum seeking control;
wherein the transition boundary between the first operating state and the second operating state is automatically adjusted by recalculating a specific volume of outdoor air threshold.

Abstract
A computerized method for operating a process includes using at least one sensor to determine when to transition a state machine between a first operating state wherein the process is operated using extremum seeking control and a second operating state wherein the process is operated without extremum seeking control. The method further includes, in response to the determination, automatically transitioning from the first operating state to the second operating state.
